The BRIGHT Run doesn’t take vacations! BRIGHT folks have been out and about lately, spreading awareness of local breast cancer research and raising some money in the process.
Thank you once again to our wonderful friends at charred on James Street North for their terrific promotion during the month of October.
For every order of whole chicken with three sides, charred donated $2 to the BRIGHT Run. Check out what charred has to offer at www.charred.ca .
Get a Head-Start on the Festive Season
Mark Wednesday Nov. 20 on your calendars – the BRIGHT Run will be in the Juravinski Cancer Centre lobby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a range of stocking stuffers and festive decorations for sale.
Drop by and get going on your Christmas shopping!
We had a double-barrelled presence on staff appreciation day last month at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital.
Outside at the staff barbecue, BRIGHT volunteers Colleen Ionson and Darlene Komadan met staff members and handed out goodies and info.
At the same time in the cancer centre lobby, volunteers Sandy Murphy and Lee Prokaska presided over the BRIGHT Run over-stock sale, with great deals on T-shirts, shoe laces, socks, pins, car magnets and phone chargers. The two pulled in more than $300 in just a few hours!
Life After Breast Cancer
Sandy and Lee were back at the pink table at Life After Breast Cancer, a bi-annual one-day conference for breast cancer patients and survivors. They distributed a bunch of save-the-date cards and did a brisk business in decorated pink pumpkins, along with other BRIGHT Run trinkets.
Congratulations to Dr. Alexandra Ginty, who won a $25 multi-restaurant gift card in the BRIGHT Run free draw at the conference.
