Bright Run 2021
All of us were hoping for the best-case scenario that saw the COVID-19 pandemic fade into history by the time BRIGHT Run 2021 rolled around.
Yet even as vaccines became available, it was clear the health threat would be with us for longer than we thought. After a successful pivot to virtual in 2020, the BRIGHT Run volunteer executive committee decided early in 2021 that an in-person event – even months into the future – simply wasn’t smart.
So, for the second year, participants took the leap into virtual BRIGHT, becoming even more creative in both their fundraising initiatives and the ways and places they chose to celebrate our collective fundraising achievements – more than $367,000 for local breast cancer research!
They walked and they ran. They cycled and they roller-bladed. They had neighbourhood parades and jumped into swimming pools. And they did it all with smiles on their faces and love in their hearts!
Bright Run 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 was a huge challenge for everyone, including the BRIGHT Run.
It became clear in the early spring that gathering at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area would not be possible. Instead, the BRIGHT Run pivoted to virtual, its volunteer executive committee jumping on a steep learning curve that led to BRIGHT Run 2020 on Facebook live.
BRIGHT Run participants embraced the virtual experience, coming up with creative ways to celebrate our fundraising achievements together yet apart. They walked, ran, kayaked, rode bicycles, had small socially distanced parades in their neighbourhoods. They sent videos, photos, comments – all chronicling their special versions of BRIGHT 2020.
What a great way to celebrate raising more than $333,000 for BRIGHT Run 2020!
