Kudos to Fundraising Success!
So many BRIGHT teams have taken up the challenge to pivot in the face of the pandemic, finding creative ways to connect with people and raise money for local breast cancer research.
Here are a few examples:
Pink Ribbon Ride, for example, usually holds an equestrian clinic each summer to raise money for BRIGHT Run. While the clinic could not take place this year, Amber and Crystal Ripa decided not to waste the silent auction prizes they had collected from a range of donors. Their week-long Facebook auction raised $2,869 for local breast cancer research!
Mark Calcagni, a member of In It Together (his cousin Donna Stampone is the captain), was similarly loaded down with silent auction items after the team’s annual fundraising dinner – full of fun, food and entertainment – could not go ahead. Auctioning off two items per day on Facebook brought in $1,280 for the BRIGHT Run. The team has also hosted online Trivia Nights and a virtual spinner game, raising more than $7,000 in total for BRIGHT Run 2020.
Congratulations to BRIGHT team Big Smoke Burger and captain Khalilah Elliott who, with her husband Jason, owns Big Smoke Burger in Brantford. Their grand opening BRIGHT Run promotion raised $1,000 for local breast cancer research. Thanks also to parent company MTY Group for its participation.
