For the fifth year, BRIGHT Run is thrilled and grateful to welcome LiUNA as our presenting community partner!
The Labourers’ International Union represents workers across Canada in a wide range of sectors including building roads and bridges, transit infrastructure, tunnels and high-rises, the energy, industrial and healthcare sectors and more.
The partnership with BRIGHT Run is with LiUNA Local 837, which covers Greater Hamilton/Niagara, through the union’s charitable arm, LiUNA Lending a Hand.
Many thanks to Joseph Mancinelli and Victoria Mancinelli. Joe is LiUNA’s International Vice President and Regional Manager for Central and Eastern Canada, which has 160,000 members, while Victoria is Director of Public Relations, Communications, Marketing and Strategic Partnerships.
LiUNA is very active in our community, supporting a wide range of charitable organizations as well as spurring several large redevelopment initiatives in Hamilton’s downtown core, including the redevelopment of the historic Lister Block, the restoration of the former CN Rail Station into LiUNA Station and the development of long-term care facilities.
The Labourers’ International Union was chartered in 1903, to address the poor treatment of immigrant workers in Canada and the United States. The first Canadian local was chartered in 1919, with Local 837 receiving its charter in 1950.
