BRIGHT is back at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area for 2022!
We’re beyond excited about coming together – in real life, in the flesh, with our pink on – to celebrate 15 years of BRIGHT.
After careful consideration over several meetings, the executive committee decided this year’s event will be live and in person. And we can’t wait to see so many friendly faces on Sept. 10.
“Our BRIGHT Run community knows all about strength in the face of adversity and that’s what came through as we faced COVID,” said BRIGHT Chair Nancy McMillan. “Now it’s time to get back together and celebrate. Let the enthusiasm, energy, excitement and electricity begin!”
“I can’t wait to see all the smiles, feel the hugs and hear the laughter on Sept. 10 at Dundas Valley,” she said.
Lotsa pink balloons? Check.
Silent Auction? Well yeah.
Entertainment? Of course.
Medals? For sure.
And so much more!
The past two years have been both difficult and exciting for the BRIGHT Run community. The executive committee made the hard decision – two years in a row – to go virtual in to keep us all safe during the COVID pandemic.
It was a steep learning curve – this virtual stuff – for most of us. But we collectively blew the doors off when it comes to fundraising, significantly surpassing our goal each year!
And in the midst of all that, the exciting partnership between BRIGHT and McMaster University was announced. The creation of the BRIGHT Run Breast Cancer Learning Health System Chair, and the hiring of Dr. Ashirbani Saha as the first holder of that position, is a perpetual tribute to the hard work of all members of our BRIGHT community.
And now – finally – we are able to return to our home base at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area trail centre!
“While we were safely waiting to come back together, our community participated in two wildly successful virtual events, raising more than $350,000 each year,” Nancy said. “If that’s what we can do apart, I can’t even imagine what we will do together this September!”
We are so looking forward to being together again! We have some surprises in the works to make our anniversary event even more special.
