If you have some time to spare for a good cause or if you know high school students looking to build their community service hours, BRIGHT Run’s got you covered!
BRIGHT Run wouldn’t happen without volunteers. Some volunteers fill roles year-round but many more are needed to help in the weeks leading up to event day and particularly on the big day itself.
There are still volunteer spots available in August and September. Lobby sales take place at the Juravinski Cancer Centre (JCC) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays all summer and we’d love you to come and spread BRIGHT awareness while raising money for local breast cancer research through penny sale and raffle ticket sales.
BRIGHT will also be at the Cactus Festival Aug. 16, 17, and 18 and at the Winona Peach Festival Aug. 23, 24, and 25. We’re looking for folks to share BRIGHT information with festival-goers who stop by the penny sale tent.
And there are two advance T-shirt pickup days at Kintec Footwear, on Upper Wentworth Street across from CF Lime Ridge Mall, on Aug. 24 and Sept. 5.
Of course, the biggest need for volunteers is on event day, Saturday, Sept. 7, at Christie Lake Conservation Area. It takes more than 250 people to make the day run smoothly from start to finish. Be a part of this amazing event – from the inside!
If you have questions, send an email to volunteer@brightrun.ca .

And remember, volunteer orientation night is Aug. 27 from 6.30 to 8.30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Community Hall, 23 Sheaffe St. The hall’s accessible parking is accessed off Mulberry St. There is also plenty of parking in the lots off Sheaffe St. Please note that street parking is by permit only.
Can’t wait to see you wearing your blue volunteer T-shirt!
