Your Fundraising Efforts Go to Work

The BRIGHT Run is all about fundraising for local breast cancer research, so we’re very happy to participate –- for the second year in a row — in a call for research proposals by the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation.

As you know, money raised by BRIGHT participants funded four research projects last year and we look forward to announcing additional projects this summer.

BRIGHT-funded grants are available in two categories:

  • Research development grants. These grants allow researchers to gather data that will help create more extensive applications to undergo peer review by other funding agencies. These projects last up to 24 months.
  • Thematic research grants. These grants are for more significant projects focussing on crucial research questions in one of three areas: clinical trial projects, translational projects, or quality of care and knowledge translational projects. They must be completed within 36 months.

To qualify for one of the BRIGHT Run grants, the primary investigator must be involved in the cancer program at the JHCC. Special consideration will go to early career investigators.

Applications must be submitted by April 30. Submissions will be scrutinized by a panel of experts. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in the summer
