Hello BRIGHT Run Family,
Happy December!!
We’ve had a snowy ending to fall (see a photo) in November.
A lot had happened before that in my research.
My second Master’s student defended her thesis. Two new Master’s students and my first postdoctoral fellow joined my team. I attended three conferences this year – two in the U.S., one in Toronto. I had presentations or my student presenting in all three conferences. This resulted in a total of four peer-reviewed studies (three full papers and one abstract). My students contributed in three of those studies as part of their Master’s theses.
I worked on some new grant opportunities; I was awarded one as the co-principal investigator. I received some feedback on other submissions that helped me improve the grant proposals. I also assisted my colleagues on submitting their grants and two of those were awarded.
As I was coming back home from the conference in Toronto via the GO train, I looked at photos that I took this year. They included images from the conferences, student presentations, Oncology Student Research Day, BRIGHT Run (of course!) and other family/friends’ events (birthdays, anniversaries, and our hikes).
My husband, Dibyendu, and I were amazed and elated by the fall views in the Centennial Ridges and Track and Tower trails in Algonquin Provincial Park this year.
Overall, this has been a productive year, and I also started pursuing new directions in research.
I am hoping to share new research updates in the coming year.
With Season’s Greetings!
Best,
Ashirbani
