Going virtual, together yet apart

BRIGHT Run 2020 will be one for the history books. As you know, we’re going virtual this year to make sure our Sept. 12 celebration is the safest it can be for all of us, given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will be different, but not so different. Many of the things you have come to love about BRIGHT Run will be included, but you can be involved from anywhere you want – your backyard, your driveway, your neighbourhood … the possibilities are endless.

So here’s the deal: don’t head to Dundas Valley Conservation Area – unless it’s open and you really want to hike – on the morning of Saturday Sept. 12. Instead, join as we take BRIGHT Run live on Facebook.

Your BRIGHT Run event day leads – David Balsdon and Kathie Ward – have spent the past month researching a range of options for virtual BRIGHT. The plan is to partner with local experts to help us make our Facebook Live event unforgettable.

You’ll see many familiar and favourite folks during the live celebration, such as K-Lite’s Sunni Genesco, Anne Marie Collingwood and her ENCORE warm-up team, BRIGHT chair Nancy McMillan, top docs Ralph Meyer and Mark Levine and musical favourites Four Over Forty. Once the ribbon is cut, off we’ll all go, celebrating BRIGHT in our own special ways and uploading photos and videos as we go. Make sure to stick with us right to the end, so you can see the traditional cheque presentation!

We want to hear from you too. Register, get your team together and start fundraising. And do some brainstorming about how you and your team will celebrate BRIGHT Run Saturday, together with the rest of us, yet safely apart. Let us know how it’s going by emailing info@brightrun.ca .

Follow us on the BRIGHT Run Facebook page, where you’ll find information, ideas and ways you can contribute, including in the creation of a special playlist for BRIGHT Run Saturday.
